Newton Abbot Ribbon Gala 14th September 2019
A team of our younger swimmers attended the Newton Abbot Ribbon Gala, and came away feeling mighty proud of their efforts.
With coach David Hill present at Newton abbot Leisure Centre, the five of William Favereaux, Niamh Browning, Lottie Favereaux , Dominic Melhuish and Anna Monk had a great meet with 5 Personal bests and 9 new times recorded. Swimming in her first gala, Lottie had two second places, in the 25 metre butterfly and the 25m breaststroke in addition to her 4 new times. Similar for Niamh, who set a new PB in the 100IM, as well as picking up a silver ribbon for her second place in the 25m butterfly and recording new times in both the 50m backstroke and 50m breaststroke. Also recording new times was Anna in the 50m breaststroke and 50 m freestyle. In addition Anna also setting a PB in the 50m butterfly and achieved 2nd place in this event. The boys did as equally as well with William taking home 3 silver ribbons from the 50m butterfly, 50m backstroke and 100 IM, with the butterfly being a new PB. Dominic recorded two PB’s in the 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle, the latter of which was a massive 5 and a half seconds quicker than his previous personal best in that event.
Coach David was very pleased with the efforts, and commented on how well they had done. A massive thank you to Sarah Gillingham for team managing for the afternoon. This is a gala that the club will be looking to take more swimmers to next year, and we are grateful to Newton Abbot Swimming Club for inviting us.
