MRS AGGIE JORDAN. 1922 – 2020

It is with great sadness that we have to inform all members that our longest standing Honorary Life Member, Mrs Aggie Jordan has passed away at the grand age of 98 years old.

Aggie and her husband Ralph joined the Exmouth Swimming and Life Saving Society in the early to mid 1960’s.  Aggie would be on the table on a club night down at the old pool on the seafront making sure everything ran smoothly.

Aggie was an ASA club delegate and also a Western Counties delegate.

Aggie was the Treasurer for the Society  and served for 20 plus years.

Aggie was also Trophy Steward for a number of years.

Aggie was a strong supporter of the Centenary Year and the Channel Relay Swim in 1993. She had learnt to drive after losing her husband and with Pam Snowshall, who had helped teach her to drive, set off to drive to Dover  to support the swimmers.

Aggie retired from the Society a few years ago but always kept in touch.

Aggie’s family have very strong ties with the Society and some of her great grandchildren are learning to swim with us now.

Last year was the club’s 125 year celebration at Ocean. Aggie was determined to come and as the Society’s oldest member was asked to cut the celebration cake.

Aggie, you were a very special lady and will remain in our hearts always.
