Exmouth Masters at RN Meet

Sunday 12th March saw three Exmouth swimmers compete in the Royal Navy Masters Swimming Meet at Millfield School in Somerset:  Ian Lang, Bill Letch, and Nigel Travers-Griffin.

Lang put in some strong performances going under five minutes for 400m freestyle for the first time in a few years in his first race of the day.  He followed this up with strong performances in the 200m freestyle, 50m breaststroke, and 100m freestyle and came third in the competitive 25-29 age group.

Nigel Travers-Griffin focused on the sprint events competing in the 50m fly and freestyle.  As always Bill Letch was the standout performer for Exmouth Masters.

Letch swam in each of the 50m sprint events.  Setting two new meet records in the freestyle and fly and equalling the meet record in the backstroke despite a mistake on his turn.  Bill won his 75-79 age group championship.

Exmouth swimmers Adele Parham and Philippa O’Grady were also in attendance swimming for their parent club Wincanton who managed to win the trophy for the top visiting team.  Heidi Hunt was also swimming at the gala for parent club Taunton Deane and was pushed all the way by her daughter in several races.
