Exeter Sprint Meet Sunday 22nd September
It is that time of year where the Licensed Open meets come thick and fast in the racing calendar as some of the more experienced swimmers within the junior section, compete at Level 3 Open meet to gain times for County qualifying times for early next year. The annual Exeter Sprints meet was held at the Plymouth Life Centre and was made up of 50 metre races and a 100 IM event. There were a number of podium finishes and County qualifying times achieved by the Exmouth four of Joseph Bollington, Will Senjack, Lily Allen and Bethany Browning.
Will came way with 3 medals and two personal bests as well as achieving the desired County qualifying times in two events. He took first place in the 50metre fly, whilst also finishing on the podium with PB’s in both the 50m back and 50m freestyle. Lily Allen was also amongst the medals in her favoured backstroke with a first place finish, and took home bronze in both the 50m freestyle and butterfly. Joseph was the only Exmouth swimmer to pick up a medal in the breaststroke, but most impressively set a PB in the backstroke whilst gaining silver, to add to the silver from the butterfly and bronze in the IM. Completing the quartet of swimmers , Bethany had a good meet with four PB’s and silver medals from the 100IM, Freestyle and butterfly. Overall Coach David Hill, was very encouraged by the results from his swimmers and the progress that they are making.
