ASA National Junior and Youth Disability Champs 2013
On Friday 1st March Exmouth Swimming and Life Saving Society swimmer Kierron Tellem travelled to Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield. Accompanied by his Mum, Dad and coaches Jerry and Gina Wassall. Kierron was competing as a member of the South West Regional team in the National Junior and Youth Disability Swimming Championships.
Competing in the S10 category in the 14/16 age group Kierron competed in four individual events and one relay. In his individual events Kierron swam to PBs in the 100m freestyle, 50m freestyle and 100m individual medley. His times were 1.24.78, 37.80 and 1.41.08 respectively with 1.41 in the IM good enough to take a silver medal in his age group and classification in what was his first National event. Kierron also achieved a PB in the 100m backstroke leading out the South West Region 4x100m Medley Relay team.
Kierron also witnessed 2 World Records, 4 European Records and 18 British Records as well as meeting a number of Paralympians including Jessica Applegate, Josef Craig, Andrew Mullen and Hannah Russel.
