Dear all
As you may have heard by now, I have taken the decision to postpone the return to swimming in 2021. The main factors are the rapid rise in cases, the higher threat to younger people that the new strain has and the likelihood of further restrictions in two weeks’ time i.e., possibly going into Tier 4. Although not definite it appears that we are following on the wave from London and the South East and this seems likely, so rather than start...stop...start and considering my responsibility for the safety of all, not just the swimmers but all helpers, coaches and teachers I have taken the decision to ‘Press Pause’. I am fully aware the under 18's can (under guidelines) continue, but I consider the staggered start of schools and the imminent vaccine for students and feel that by holding off now will give us the benefit of more knowledge over the next few days/weeks. Hopefully, we will be back to training very soon in a much more stable system. I understand that this decision will probably be unpopular but please understand I have not taken it lightly. I am calling an emergency meeting of the main committee for us to discuss this as a committee and to work out a way forward for a safe and sustainable return to swimming. I wish you all a Safe and Happy New Year. Kindest Regards Martin Pashley Chairman ES&LSS sharing a COVID-19 update Comments are closed.
