Exmouth Swimming and Life Saving Society have appointed Jerry Wassall as their new head coach. Jerry took over coaching duties of the club’s competitive and development squad at the start of February and this weekend saw the start of the Devon County Championships in Plymouth; one of his first competitions in charge.
Exmouth swimmer David Thompson impressed by making the final of the 100m Butterfly. David achieved sixth place overall with a time of 01.01.79 which was exactly the same time he swam to qualify for the final.
Exmouth swimmers Jack Moss and Ross Warburton also did well by both achieving personal bests in the 100m Freestyle and 50m Backstroke respectively.
The Devon County ASA Swimming Championships continued in March with Exmouth Swimming and Life Saving Society swimmers George Cornwell-Brown and Liam Spiller. George achieved a personal best in both his 200m Backstroke and 100m Individual Medley, finishing 8th in the latter. Liam qualified for the 100m Individual Medley age group finals when he was placed 6th.
The 2011 Devon County ASA Championships concluded on the 20th of March. Exmouth Swimming and Life Saving Society’s David Thompson qualified for the 50m Butterfly Championship final. He finished 5th with a time of 27.76, the winner’s time was 26.79. Also in the medals was Jack Moss who came second in the 15 year age group also for 50m Butterfly. Jack also achieved a PB for his 200m Freestyle on the same day.
Other club swimmers, George Cornwell-Brown took 3 seconds off his 200 Backstroke time and a second from his 100m Individual Medley time. Liam Spiller although not getting a PB for the 100 Individual Medley event swam in the 14 year age group finals coming 6th overall. George, Jack and Ross Warburton all swam to new personal best times in the 100 Backstroke.
